Transition team hosts public meetings

Nov. 27, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Members of Mayor-elect Steve Williams' transition team have scheduled several public meetings this week to begin identifying the issues that the new mayor should focus on after he takes office Jan. 1.

During an organizational meeting last week, Williams broke the 14-member transition team into four committees. The four focus areas are finance, public works, public safety and economic development. Williams wants each committee to identify the most important issue within its focus area and report its findings to him by Dec. 18.

All of the meetings are open to the public and will be conducted in City Council chambers at Huntington City Hall, 800 5th Ave. The meetings also will be televised live on Channel 25 on the Comcast.

The meeting times are:

Finance: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Public safety: 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29.

Economic development: 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30.

Public works: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30.
