Hospice gets certificate to expand services

ASHLAND -- Community Hospice has received a state Certificate of Need to expand its services to Johnson and Martin counties in Kentucky.

Community Hospice began service in that area in late July and is already serving a number of patients in the region.

A new office in Paintsville will open on Monday, Sept. 15, at 869 U.S. 23 north. An Open House is planned for November during National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.

In addition to Johnson and Martin counties, the Paintsville office will serve Community Hospice patients in Lawrence and Elliott counties.

Community Hospice is a nonprofit organization committed to the end-of-life care needs for patients and their families. Started in Ashland in 1979, it currently serves 170 patients per day and has110 employees throughout a nine-county service area in eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio. Community Hospice also operates a 15-bed inpatient care center.
