Lean Pockets product recalled
WASHINGTON -- The United States Department of Agriculture has recalled approximately 199,417 pounds of frozen sandwiches, according to an agency press release.
The Lean Pockets spinach artichoke chicken sandwiches came from the Nestlé Prepared Foods Company in Mt. Sterling, Ky. The government worries some of the sandwiches may contain pieces of plastic, the release states.
The products were produced May 23 and sent to retail stores across the nation.
The USDA release states officials realized the problem after the company received complaints. Two injuries have been reported.
No complaints have been received by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the release said.
Anyone concerned about a possible injury from consuming the food should contact a physician.
Other consumer questions are directed toward the Nestlé Consumer Services Center at 800-350-5016.
