HUNTINGTON -- A teenager arrested Friday on a drug possession charge is being questioned as a possible suspect in a May shooting death in Huntington, police report.

Dwight M. Green, 18, of Huntington was charged with a felony count of possession with the intent to distribute at least five grams of crack cocaine, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

Green was arrested by the Huntington Police Department while operating his vehicle on the 900 block of 2nd Street. At least five grams of crack cocaine were located in Green's mouth during the traffic stop, the complaint stated. The suspected substance was field tested and tested positive for crack cocaine.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Maurice G. Taylor Jr. presided over the initial arrest hearing on Friday. Green has been detained pending a preliminary/detention hearing scheduled for 2:30 p.m. for July 23. According to the Western Regional Jail's Booking Department, Green is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals.

Huntington Police Detective John Williams said Green is also a possible suspect in the shooting death of Detroit-native Timothy Taylor on May 1. Officers responding about 1:40 a.m. to a report of a shooting at 821 19th St. and found Taylor's body when they arrived. Police said Taylor, 23, was shot in the head.

Williams said the case is under investigation and they are continuing to look at other possible suspects.

No charges have been filed against Green in relation to the shooting.
