A fight at the Cabell County Fair on Thursday night escalated to a crowd of about 20-30 people according to a deputy from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Paul Fields said that a confrontation began with a few patrons of the fair being upset about a pregnant woman who alleged she was hit by something involving the demolition derby at the Cabell County Fair.

"When you get several thousands of people around at an event like that, things like this happen," said Cabell County Sheriff Jim Scheidler.

Initial reports indicate that no major injuries were sustained during the fight. Cabell County Dispatch said that pepper spray may have been used by law enforcement to control the crowd, but Scheidler said that he could not confirm that any officer used pepper spray. Fields said that to his knowledge, no officers had used pepper spray to control the crowd.

Four deputies were working the fair grounds and dispersed the crowd.

One man, who Fields said was not believed to be involved in the fighting, was arrested for obstructing, assault on an officer and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $8,000.
