Anti-casino group has new voice

January 05, 2009 @ 05:33 PM

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A policy analyst for a pro-family group will serve as the spokesman for the anti-gambling group Say No To Casinos.

Martin Cothran’s official job title will be communications director.

The group was one of the most vocal opponents last year to Gov. Steve Beshear’s failed proposal to amend the state constitution to allow casinos. Beshear said such a move could have generated some $500 million a year for state government.

State Rep. Greg Stumbo has a proposal to expand gambling opportunities at horse tracks around the state. Cothran said the group opposes the measure.
