MCTC professor to sign copies of book

HUNTINGTON -- Eliot Parker, assistant professor of English at Mountwest Community and Technical College in Huntington, will sign copies of his new murder-mystery book, "Breakdown at Clear River," from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Empire Books and News at Pullman Square.

Hospice set to have Holiday Open House

HUNTINGTON -- The Hospice of Huntington Gift Shop will have a Holiday Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Located at 1101 6th Ave., the gift shop carries a wide variety of items including home decor accessories, jewelry, baby clothing, greeting cards, spiritual books, ladies' accessories, specialty food items and more.

The Holiday Open House will feature the latest in seasonal and holiday gift items as well as food sampling.

Offertory collection to benefit storm victims

WHEELING, W.Va. -- In response to those affected in West Virginia by Hurricane Sandy, Bishop Michael J. Bransfield of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has authorized a special offertory collection at all Masses the weekend of Nov. 10-11.

All proceeds will be forwarded to Catholic Charities West Virginia and used to provide long-term disaster recovery services to individuals or families in West Virginia.

School to host annual turkey dinner Nov. 10

PRICHARD -- Prichard Elementary is planning its annual turkey dinner for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.
