Man hiding heroin in peanut butter arrested
ASHLAND -- A Detroit man was arrested Saturday on charges he was hiding heroin in a peanut butter jar, according to a news release from the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department narcotics unit.
Deon A. Cohen, 24, of Detroit, was arrested in a taxi cab at 14th Street and Greenup Avenue shortly after midnight Saturday. He was charged with trafficking in controlled substances in the first degree and possession of heroin.
He was transported to the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg, Ky.
The narcotics unit received a tip and arrested a man leaving the Ashland bus station.
An undisclosed amount of heroin was found hidden inside the peanut butter, according to the release.
The suspect told authorities he was trying to get to Portsmouth, Ohio.
