ASHLAND -- Two Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital volunteers were among those honored with community service awards by the Poage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Naomi Runyon and Verona Petre, both of Catlettsburg, Ky., received awards at the fifth annual Community Awards presentation, Sunday, May 4.

The Community Service Award recognizes worthy local people for outstanding achievements in educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical or citizenship endeavors.

Runyon and Petre, who are sisters, were honored for their volunteer contributions to OLBH and the community. Runyon and Petre had the highest total number of volunteer hours last year at OLBH, logging more than 6,300 hours each.

"I can't imagine two individuals more deserving of this honor," said Luann Serey, OLBH Community Services director.
