Former MU professor to present at banquet
HUNTINGTON — A former Marshall University professor will return to campus Friday for a guest presentation.
Michael Galgano will present “History for the New Century” at 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Room 154 in Smith Hall on campus, as part of The Charles H. Moffat Visiting Lectureship in History.
Galgano taught at Marshall for 15 years in the 1970s and ’80s, and currently is the chairman of the history department at James Madison University.
His presentation will focus on the recent changes in how historians do their work and why history, perhaps, is needed now more than ever. The event will be free and open to the public.
Galgano also will present “My Search for Women in History: A Half Century Retrospective” during the annual Phi Alpha Theta-Moffat Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Shawkey Dining Room in the Memorial Student Center on campus.
There is a small fee to attend the banquet.
