An adult family member staying at the residence first noticed the fire upon exiting the shower. She escaped significant harm and a neighbor called 911.
Firefighters arrived to find an enormous amount of flames, said Barboursville Fire Capt. Andrew Frazier.
Those flames gutted much of the single-story home, located along Francis Court in Williamsburg Colony.
The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department led the response with assistance from other area departments.
