WINFIELD, W.Va. -- The Putnam County Commission met late Tuesday afternoon to accommodate testing on voting machines in preparation for upcoming elections.
Also during that meeting, the commission committed to covering half of the cost necessary for the purchase of a new public address system to be installed in the county fairground livestock arena. Their maximum contribution was set at $3,789.
The county also will benefit from community participation grants awarded by the commission which included $6,000 to be used for livestock arena improvements at the fairground, and $20,000 for the purchase of a new sign for Valley Park.
Regularly scheduled commission meetings will resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Meetings are open to the public.
