HURRICANE -- New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss and Miami Heat guard Jason Williams are teaming up for the first time since their glory days as athletes at DuPont High School for an event that will benefit children in their home state of West Virginia.

Moss has asked Williams to join him at the First Annual Links for Learning Weekend Golf Extravaganza at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Hurricane on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28. The event will benefit children in the area with learning centers that are being established, the first scheduled to be located in Rand, W.Va. Williams has graciously and enthusiastically agreed to do so. Other athletes are expected as well.

"I am excited to see who's going to join Jason and me and our friends," said Moss. "They'll have some fun and help raise some money for the kids."

Since Moss completed his rookie season, he has reached out to kids in West Virginia, particularly those in his hometown of Rand. He has held autograph sessions and brought in fellow NFL players to join him. Moss has also bussed children to amusement parks, to NBA games in Cleveland and to NFL games to see him play in Cincinnati. Now Moss is adding this significant event that will impact many more lives.

"This is his true statement of 'giving back'," said Donnie Jones, manager of Randy Moss Enterprises. "This will have a lasting impact long after his playing days. Randy is really looking forward to spending time with Jason again, because it has been difficult for them to get together because of their seasons that conflict with each other."

The weekend will include a cocktail party on Friday night, golf on Saturday morning and cocktails, dinner and a sports memorabilia auction on Saturday night.

Corporate sponsors and interested golf groups are encouraged to become involved with this tremendous event. Because of the extreme interest in this special weekend, golf groups will be filled strictly on a first come, first serve basis.
