Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week's "Tracksters of the Week" awards to Jordan Meadows of Poca High School and Emily Lewis of Buffalo High School.

Meadows is a senior at Poca High School and qualified in the regionals this past week to compete in four different events at the state meet. These four events include the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, shuttle hurdles, and the long jump. In the regionals this past week, Meadows placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 200-meter hurdles.

This coming week at states, she hopes to place in the top six in all four of her events. She would also like to break a 16-second 100 and a 16-feet long jump.

When asked about the key to her success this year, Meadows said, "Most of it is due to practice and conditioning in the off-season. The installment of a new track at Poca High School has helped tremendously."

Lewis is a senior at Buffalo High School and also the defending state champion in the single-A pole vaulting event. Lewis looks to repeat her success from last year and jump around 8' 6" or 8' 9" in the pole vault. She also looks forward to running the 4x100-meter relay, in which her team was a surprise to qualify for the event. She looks forward to the team finishing in the top six.

When Lewis was asked about her success, she said, "It is mainly due to my lifting, running, and workout routine in the off-season. I put in a lot of effort and hard work."

Lewis is also a very good student, carrying a 3.7 GPA.

Look for Meadows, Lewis and other local area high school athletes to be named Tracksters of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald.
