UNITED WRESTLING ALLIANCE TOY DRIVE: Admission to United Wrestling Alliance events Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, and Dec. 12 and 13, costs $3 with every unwrapped toy donated. Toys will benefit the local Salvation Army Angel Tree. United Wrestling Alliance is located at 1448 10th Ave., and events begin at 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. GOLDEN GIRLS HOLIDAY PARTY: Staff at United Security Agency also seek donations for a holiday party where snacks, entertainment and gifts will be provided to the dependent, neglected and predelinquent girls. Staff are also working to help the group raise money to finish a second location for the organization. One hundred percent of donations go directly to the organization. Donations can be mailed to the Insurance Women of Huntington, ATTN: Golden Girls Project, P.O. Box 1742, Huntington, W.Va., 25718.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS: Staff at United Security Agency are also collecting holiday donations of business clothing for Dress for Success. Dress for Success aims to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive. Donations can be dropped off at United Security Agency, 103 8th Ave., in Huntington. Please make sure that any donations are undamaged, unsoiled and freshly laundered.

POINSETTIA SALE: Quota of Huntington is taking orders for poinsettias as part of its annual fundraiser.

The club has been selling poinsettias for over 10 years. Each plant sold generates money for community service projects, such as hearing impaired services, initiatives with the City Mission and literacy projects.

Poinsettias cost $10, $17 or $23, are six inches, 8 inches or 10 inches big, and are red, white, marble or pink.

HERITAGE HOLIDAYS CONCERTS: Faith in Action of the River Cities will present its sixth annual Heritage Holidays Concerts, featuring celtic and Appalachian folk music by Blackbirds and Thrushes, Friday through Sunday, Dec. 12 to 14. Concerts will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday, in the Log Cabin Church at Heritage Farm Museum and Village, located at 3300 Harvey Road in Huntington.

All proceeds will benefit Faith in Action, an interfaith non-profit organization that provides non-medical assistance to the elderly.

Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children in advance, or $18 and $13 at the door. Seating is limited.

SAFE HARBOR OF NORTHEASTERN KENTUCKY: Safe Harbor of Northeastern Kentucky is seeking holiday donations as it prepares for the opening of Harbor Hill, its new supportive living apartments.

Harbor Hill will have 34 apartments and offer residents child care, job skills training, GED and post-secondary education, life skills training and various counseling.

Contributions may be made to honor or memorialize someone. Residents also have the opportunity to adopt an apartment or day room. The donor's name or name of a loved one can be engraved on a brass plate at the entry way.

Group donations also are accepted and apartment furnishings are needed. The apartments will need new coffee pots, two-slice toasters, hair dryers, mixers, double bed-sized bedspreads, pillows, dishes, pots, pans and microwave ovens.

JINGLE BELL WALK: The Huntington City Mission will host a "Jingle Bell Walk" on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Ritter Park.

Participants will walk for pledges and all proceeds will go toward supporting the Huntington City Mission. Registration is at 11 a.m. and the event begins at noon.

The event will include holiday music and refreshments. All walkers will be given jingle bells to tie to their shoes as long as supplies last. At noon, Santa will lead the walkers in support of the mission. Walkers are not required to walk any certain number of laps.

Beforehand, participants are required to obtain sponsors pledging a minimum of $5 per pledge. The individual with the most paid pledges will receive a large stocking filled with seasonal items and a trophy. The Mission will provide information packets and pledge sheets to anyone interested upon request.

TOYS 4 TOTS: Staff at United Security Agency are still collecting toys for Toys 4 Tots. Toys made be dropped off at United Security Agency at 103 8th Ave. in Huntington.

The Mission is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It serves an average of 450 meals daily and over 165,000 meals annually.

FITNESS, FUN AND FEEDING THE NEEDY: Tri-State Zumba Instructors are inviting the public to participate in "Fitness, Fun and Feeding the Needy" Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Lions Club Annual Arts and Craft show at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Two half-hour classes will be offered Saturday at 1 and 2 p.m. Those who want to participate are asked to bring non-perishable food items and canned goods to designated canisters at the entrance of the arena. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Donations will benefit the Nazareth house, a nonprofit organization operated by St. Joseph Parish in Huntington. The Nazareth House serves more that 300 families per month with food, clothing and household items in our community.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: The Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity seeks donations this holiday season. The nonprofit Christian ministry works to offer safe and affordable housing to qualified families in need. The organization's home improvement resale and donations center also seeks contributions of items such as furniture, appliances, cabinets, building supplies, hand and power tools, electronics and even vehicles. These items, accompanied with contributions of new and used items from contractors, companies, landlords and individuals, are re-sold in the store at 50 to 75 percent of retail value. The resalable donations are fully tax deductible and heavier items may be picked up by Habitat. COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS: The Coalition for the Homeless is asking for charitable contributions this season to offset operating costs from providing medical and dental services to the uninsured homeless. The coalition provides on-site services at its multi-purpose day shelter, Harmony House, in Huntington. The organization is also seeking donations of hygiene/personal care products for individuals experiencing homelessness. Items needed include soap, shampoo, razors, deodorant, toilet paper, laundry detergent, coffee/sugar and bottled water. PROJECT HOPE: The Huntington City Mission and Project Hope provide emergency shelter and transitional housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Mission provides Christmas gifts on Christmas morning to all those living at the shelters. Donations of new, unwrapped toys and clothing are appreciated for men, women and children. Wish lists are available if individuals, businesses or churches are interested in sponsoring a specific family or single person. Monetary donations also are accepted. CRICKET'S KIDS: Area residents are invited to a buy a chicken and dumplings meal from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at 2349 Adams Ave. The meal costs $6 and funds go toward buying toys for underprivileged kids from birth to 15 years old. The meal includes mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, rolls and a drink.

Donations and toys also will be accepted at the event.

Funds will go to provide a Christmas party with toys and food for the children from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Celebration Church at 19th Street and Jefferson Avenue.

Last year's event served more than 700 youths in and around Cabell County.

A gift wrapping also will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Celebration Church. Volunteers may call 304-429-2000.

CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKET DRIVE: Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations for the annual Christmas Food Basket Drive. Donations needed are non-perishable food items, a new toy for a child or cash/check to be used for purchasing winter clothing and Christmas for local children.

Donations may be dropped off at the station from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or mailed to P.O. Box 325, Barboursville, WV 25504. Please mark donations for "Christmas Fund Drive." More information is available by calling 304-736-7420.

CHRISTMAS ANGELS: The Christmas Angels program at the Golden Girls Group Home is seeking donations for the holiday season. The nonprofit group home for girls in Ceredo hopes to provide $150 of gifts per girl this Christmas. The residential care facility houses 24 adolescent foster girls. RONALD McDONALD HOUSE: On Sunday, Dec. 7, the Ronald McDonald House hopes to "Light the House that Love Built." The holiday program asks for donations that will go to help families who need a place to stay while their children are in the hospital. You may donate an amount per light or a gift of your choice. $1 for one bulb, $10 for a family's one night stay (or 10 bulbs), $25 for a string of bulbs, $70 for a family's seven-night stay. The Ronald McDonald House will have its holiday open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Ronald McDonald will light the house at 5:30 p.m.

CHRISTMAS SEALS: The American Lung Association is seeking donations as part of its annual Christmas Seals program.

Millions will receive Christmas Seals in the mail this month. The decorative holiday stamps are part of an annual fundraising tradition dating back to 1907 when the Lung Association led efforts to conquer tuberculosis.

The American Lung Association continues to work to prevent lung disease and promote lung health by working with lawmakers, conducting clinical research, and teaching children with asthma and their caregivers to understand and manage their illness.

The American Lung Associations urges people to visit www.christmasseals.org to learn more about the history of Christmas Seals, to view past Christmas Seals, to make a donation or to send a holiday e-card.
