Putnam YMCA to offer new Tai Chi class
SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. -- Tri-County YMCA is gearing up to offer a new adult program and invites the community to participate in an upcoming spring event.
In a press release, the YMCA announced that a beginner's Tai Chi for Arthritis and Health class will begin March 25 at the Scott Depot location. The class is from 11 a.m. to noon each Tuesday. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Health is a gentle, flowing exercise that promotes balance, muscle strength and flexibility. The class runs for six weeks and is $35 for nonmembers and $20 for YMCA members.
In addition, the 5th Annual Cabin Fever 5K Race/Walk is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29. This course is described by the YMCA as a unique course in the area and it's almost entirely on pavement. The course loops and winds through the Industrial Park and the Litton Heights subdivision. All participants will receive an event shirt. Fruit and refreshments will be available pre- and post-race. Awards will be given to the top three winners in each division. All divisions are co-ed, unless otherwise stated. The top three men and women finishers will receive awards also. The cost of the event before Friday, March 28, is $15 (ages 15 and up), $10 (age 14 and under). On race day, all entries are $20.
