Buzz-in security access system installed in Boyd schools

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- Boyd County public schools have installed a new, buzz-in security access system at local schools. The security system will require a school employee to release door locks on the front entrance of the school to allow anyone access. The security system cost more than $25,000. The doors will be locked at 7:45 a.m. on school days.

Hospital seeks volunteers for summer work

RUSSELL, Ky. -- Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital is seeking junior volunteers interested in summer work. Junior volunteers ages 13 to 18 work at the hospital from June to August in a variety of hospital departments. For more information, call 606-833-3653.

Underground Railroad program set for March 25

BURLINGTON, Ohio -- A program about the Underground Railroad in Burlington, Ohio, will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the Burlington Baptist Church located on County Road 1 in the "S" curve in Burlington. Chris Saunders will talk about some of the people involved in the Underground Railroad and how slaves passing through Kentucky and western Virginia made their way across the Ohio River into the Burlington area.
