Library celebrates new program
HUNTINGTON -- The Boyd County Public Library and a number of agencies in the Ashland area took part in a community block party Monday evening.
The library's main branch on Central Avenue hosted the block party, which in included free hot dogs and drink and inflatables for the kids.
It also introduced a new program called "Checkout Your Community," which is a new lending program designed to introduce library card holders to the community's activities and organizations. It allows them to check out a pass or equipment to try an activity that interests them.
Many of the new items that will be available for checkout can be used in Ashland's Central Park, including volleyballs, basketballs, soccer balls, fishing poles and Frisbee golf equipment.
Partnering agencies include the Ashland Tennis Center, Ashland Area YMCA, Neon Links mini golf at the Kyova Mall, the Kyova Mall, Highlands Museum and Discovery Center and City of Ashland Parks and Recreation.
