Aug. 01, 2013 @ 12:37 AM

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Barboursville Police Department:

LARCENY: A 47-year-old man reported he went to work at a kiosk he owns in the Huntington Mall on Tuesday, and he placed a cellphone, worth $800, in a drawer in the kiosk. While he was talking to a customer, he said someone opened the drawer and took the phone.

SHOPLIFTING: Officers responded to two reported shoplifting incidents between last Saturday and Tuesday.

Both of the incidents were reported by employees at the J.C. Penney store in the mall.

On Saturday, an employee reported a 23-year-old Ashland woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $194 in Arizona brand children's apparel she concealed in her purse while in a fitting room in the store. The woman was released from custody following arraignment in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

On Tuesday, an employee reported a 31-year-old Huntington man exited the store without paying for a pair of tennis shoes worth $55 he concealed under his shirt. The responding officer located the man outside of the mall with the merchandise in his possession. The officer issued a man a citation, and the man was released from custody.
