Wanted woman arrested after reported shoplifting incident
BARBOURSVILLE -- The following information was provided by reports filed by the Barboursville Police Department:
SHOPLIFTING/FUGITIVE: Brittany Nicole Bowles, 24, of Huntington, was arrested on charges of third-offense shoplifting, fugitive from justice, trespassing and fleeing following an incident at Kohl's around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Kohl's reported a woman had concealed $650 worth of clothing in a backpack while in the fitting room. When an employee tried to stop her from leaving the store without paying, she fled through the parking lot to the area of a nearby hotel.
Officers located the suspect on foot by the hotel but she refused to stop for them. She went inside, but was apprehended on the second floor while attempting to enter an elevator.
In addition to her charges for this incident, Bowles was also wanted on an active warrant in Gallia County, Ohio, for grand theft auto.
DRUG POSSESSION/OBSTRUCTION: Officers responded to a parking lot in the 2000 block of Thundering Herd Drive on the report of three women fighting around 9:30 p.m. March 4.
The involved women had left the scene; however, officers made a traffic stop on one of the accused and found her to be in possession of 12 Xanax pills and a half-gram of heroin. She gave officers a false name and resisted while being detained. Cabell County 911 advised she had a capias out of Lincoln County.
Beth Ann Parsons, 23, of West Hamlin, was taken to jail on a felony warrant for failure to appear along with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and obstruction.
Another woman was also taken to jail on misdemeanors.
SHOPLIFTING: Sears reported a 26-year-old Huntington man shoplifted $147 worth of merchandise around 11 a.m. Monday. An employee attempted to stop the man from leaving the store without paying, but he got into a car and left the cart of shoplifted merchandise in the parking lot. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and placed the accused under arrest. His passenger was found to have active warrants in Cabell County for petit larceny and transferring/receiving stolen property. They were both taken to jail.
Target reported a 33-year-old Royalton, Ky., man shoplifted $133 worth of merchandise around 3 p.m. March 6. The man was cited with first-offense shoplifting and released.
Buckle reported a 26-year-old Huntington woman shoplifted $741 worth of merchandise around 6:15 p.m. March 7. She was charged with first-offense shoplifting and taken to jail.
Sears reported a 38-year-old Huntington woman shoplifted $160 worth of merchandise around 5 p.m. March 7. He was charged with shoplifting and released on bond.
