Man arrested in connection to robbery
HUNTINGTON -- Huntington Police have arrested a man from Cleveland, Ohio, in connection to an armed robbery on the west end Saturday morning.
Marcellus D. Williams, 32, was arrested without incident on a charge of first-degree robbery, Lt. John Williams said.
The armed robbery was reported at 6:33 a.m. at the Go-Mart at 10th Street West and Washington Avenue, according to police.
Cashiers reported a man had entered the store and brandished a hand gun, demanding money from the register. After obtaining a small amount of cash, the suspect fled out of the store.
Responding patrol officers arrived and started to track the suspect with a canine. They were led to Adams Landing Apartments in the 800 block of Virginia Avenue where the suspect was located, according to police.
Money and clothing linking the suspect to the robbery were recovered and he was arrested without incident. Police were still searching the area Saturday afternoon for a weapon that the suspect is believed to have discarded.
No one was injured in the incident.
