Police probe two embezzlement complaints
Police reports from the Barboursville Police Department provided the following information:
Detectives are investigating two reports of embezzlement. The most costly incident occurred between Friday, July 16, and Thursday, July 22, at the Top Shelf Casino in Barboursville. A store official believes one of his employees stole $5,427 from one of the two safes kept inside of the establishment.
Police received the other report Wednesday, July 21, from Macy's at the Huntington Mall. Officers believe $270 was taken from a register on eight occasions.
LARCENY: Officers estimate $500 in scrap metal was taken from a CSX yard in the 500 block of Depot Street in Barboursville. A company official reported seeing an unknown man carrying away the metal in a truck.
SHOPLIFTING: Officers investigated five shoplifting complaints since Tuesday, July 20. Arrests were reported in all but one case charging five people with shoplifting.
Adam Edward Daniels, 30, of Huntington was arrested in connection with a Saturday, July 24, incident at Sears in the Huntington Mall. A $250 hardware item was taken. Daniels was charged with second-offense shoplifting due to a January 2007 conviction.
Joseph D. Clark, 23, of Charleston was arrested in connection with a Thursday, July 22, incident at Macy's. About $170 in items were taken.
Julianne Nicole Titus, 25, of Huntington and Veronica Dale Bevans, 23, of Ona were arrested in connection with a Wednesday, July 21, incident at Kohl's at the Huntington Mall. Dresses and headbands totaling $256 were taken. Titus was charged with second-offense shoplifting due to an April 2009 conviction.
No arrests were reported in a Wednesday, July 21, at J.C. Penney in the Huntington Mall. About $180 in items were taken.
Amy Michelle Cobb, 26, was arrested in connection with a Tuesday, July 20, incident at The Shoe Dept. Store in the Merritt Creek Farm shopping center. About $55 in boots were taken. Cobb was charged with felony third-offense shoplifting due to convictions in March 2008 and January 2010.
