Woman hit by car, taken to hospital

October 03, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- A woman is in the hospital after she reportedly walked into traffic Tuesday evening.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Adams Avenue and West 2nd Street just after 8:30 p.m. for a report of a vehicle striking a woman. Early dispatcher reports indicated the woman was not responsive at the scene.

Huntington Police Officer Travis Hagan said witness reports indicated the woman was attempting to cross the road in that intersection when she walked in front of a pick-up truck.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw the woman walk into the street before she was struck by the vehicle, which sent her airborne in the intersection.

Hagan said he did not have information about the woman's condition, but she was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center.

Hagan said the driver of the pick-up truck was cooperating with police. No charges had been filed in connection with the case Tuesday night.
