Cabell County deputies get cookies from Girl Scouts

March 23, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- The Cabell County Sheriff's Department received 100 boxes of cookies from Daisy Troop 2467, of Ona, as part of the troop's "Gift of Caring Project."

According to a statement from Sheriff Tom McComas, he plans on sharing the goods with victims who come to the department for help.

Troop leader Corie Cremeans said the scouts selected the sheriff's department for their project to show appreciation for the officers who protect them.

"They wanted to thank their local heroes," Cremeans said in a written release.

McComas said the department was "very appreciative of the thoughtfulness of this group, and we are proud to serve the residents of Cabell County."

Hannah Rayburn and Hannah Cremeans accept certificates from the Cabell County Sheriff's Department. Rayburn and Cremeans were two of seven Girl Scouts in Daisy Troop 2467 in Ona, W.Va. The girls gave cookies to the Cabell County Sherriff's Department, who is in turn offering the cookies to Cabell County crime victims the department comes into contact with.
