Beech Fork State Park activities
BARBOURSVILLE -- Beech Fork State Park is filled with activities each week.
Here's a look at a few of the events at the park, located at 5601 Long Branch Road, Barboursville.
The park boasts a swimming pool, open daily, as well as fishing, hiking, boat rentals (pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and johnboats), basketball, horseshoes, tennis, picnic areas, bicycling and mountain biking. Equipment rental for all the games.

Saturday, July 17
2 p.m. -- Nature Craft. Come the Campfire Circle (look for Campfire Ring symbol on your park map) to make a craft stick dragon fly.
6:30 p.m. -- Lost Lady Bug Project. Meet at the Camper's Corner and we will look for them around Beech Fork as part of a Cornell University project.
8:45 p.m. -- Night Hike. No flashlights please (except to safely arrive and depart). Meet at the Camper's Corner. This hike will follow the Road to Nowhere and end at the Campfire Ring.
Sunday, July 18
2 p.m. -- Bingo. Meet at the Campfire Circle to play this classic game outdoors. As we play, we will see how many animals we can see and hear.
4:30 p.m. -- Long Branch Nature Walk. Meet at the Campfire Circle for a leisurely evening walk to see what wildlife, especially butterflies, we can find.
Monday, July 19
2 p.m. -- Bug Puzzle. Cool off by putting together a 5- feet long insect puzzle in the shade! Meet near the Activities Room and once complete.
6 p.m. -- Overlook Trail Hike. Join us for an evening hike to observe some of Beech Fork's wildlife and trees. Let's meet at the Campfire Circle and be sure to bring a water bottle. Expect to be out about 1.5 hours.
