Ky. state parks get into the season
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State Parks will host many holiday events, including open houses, children's activities and tours of historic homes.
The state parks also are a place for holiday gatherings and unique gifts. State park gift cards also are available in each of the park gift shops. For more information about events and how to purchase a gift card, visit www.parks.ky.gov.
Here are some upcoming events at some of the nearby Kentucky State Parks.
Greenbo Lake
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in Greenup, Ky., has a couple of special events coming up. A Christmas Open House will take place Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6. There will be Christmas caroling, a bazaar, as well as many Christmas trees and decorations provided by the Greenup County Homemakers. There will also be lots of treats to sample.
In addition, Greenbo will feature Lunch With Santa from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 12, 13, 19 and 20.

Carter Caves
Carter Caves State Resort Park in Olive Hill, Ky., will be having a Christmas Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
The Carter County Homemakers will provide Christmas trees and seasonal decorations. Munch on fresh baked cookies and other goodies while listening to seasonal music by local singers and musicians. The Wizard of Dance cloggers also will perform. There will be tables of holiday and gift items for sale. For information, call 800-325-0059.
Jenny Wiley
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonsburg, Ky., will have Breakfast With Santa and Frost from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 18, 19 and 20. Breakfast will take place at the park's Music Highway Grill in the May Lodge. A each child will receive a present and can get a picture take with Santa and Frosty. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park in Mount Olivet, Ky., from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5-6. They will be available to take pictures with children. For more information, call 800-443-7008.
