Huntington man dies after being hit by train

HUNTINGTON -- A Huntington man died early Sunday morning after being hit by a train in the west end of Huntington.

According to the Cabell County 911, a call came in at 1:12 a.m. Sunday that a man was hit by a train near the 400 block of west Eighth Avenue.

The victim has been identified as Kevin Andrew Tierney, 55, of Huntington. His arrangements were incomplete Sunday afternoon at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home.

Huntington Police and Fire departments, and Cabell County EMS all responded to the scene. Dispatch did not say if anyone else was with Tierney at the time of the accident.

Tierney was a veteran and an active member of the American Legion Post 16. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The accident is under investigation by the Huntington Police Department.
