Habitat for Humanity to host 2 seminars
WAYNE -- Wayne County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting two application seminars in September.
The first seminar will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Westmoreland Woman's Club at 2962 Bradley Road, and the second seminar will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Wayne County Habitat for Humanity office in the Chase Building at 608 Hendricks St. in Wayne.
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to become a Habitat homeowner:
You must have been a resident of Wane County for at least 12 months prior to application.
Your family has lived in housing that is substandard, in bad condition or is overcrowded.
You must have a steady dependable income that enables you to meet the requirements of home ownership.
You must have a good credit history in handling your debt. Habitat for Humanity does not consider medical bills as part of your debt.
You must not have filed for bankruptcy within the last five years.
You must be willing to partner with Habitat by providing 350 hours of work, called "sweat equity," on Habitat houses.
People interested in applying for a home must attend one of the seminars.
