HUNTINGTON -- More than 270 students from Grace Gospel Christian School were out and about in Cabell County on Friday, helping clean up the area.

As part of the school's 15th annual "Serve-a-thon," students went everywhere from 14th Street and Ritter Park in Huntington to East Lynn, St. Cloud Commons and Beech Fork, picking up litter, sweeping and weeding.

The students normally plant flowers as well, but couldn't this year because of the rain.

"The weather held us back a little this year, but our kids are very good workers," said Lynn Ball, the school's office manager. "In fact, they call us every year about Ritter Park and Beech Fork to make sure we're coming, because they do such a good job. So, we're proud of them."

During the Serve-a-thon, students do work as a fundraiser for the school. Ball said the money is donated from family and friends of the students.
