Tri-State area flu vaccine clinics

October 26, 2009 @ 09:25 PM

Here are upcoming flu vaccine clinics in the Tri-State. If your organization is hosting a clinic that is open to the public, please send information about the clinic, including contact information, to news@herald-dispatch.com.

CABELL-HUNTINGTON HEALTH DEPARTMENT: The Cabell-Huntington Health Department will again offer swine flu vaccines for infants, children and young adults from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the former Milton Middle School, 1302 W. Main St. in Milton. No appointment is necessary for the free clinic. There is no fee.

The vaccines will only be given to those who are 6 months to 24 years of age. Young adults must show proof of age. Those who are on antibiotics should complete the round of antibiotics before taking the vaccine. Those who have been on Tamiflu or other anti-viral medications in the past 48 hours should not get the vaccine.

The vaccine will be available in the live mist nasal spray and injectable forms.

For information, call the department's flu hotline at 304-526-3397 or go online to www.cabellhealth.org.

WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: The Wayne County Health Department will conduct a H1N1 vaccination clinic for Wayne County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until supplies last Saturday, Oct. 31, at the new Wayne Elementary School near Wal-Mart.

The clinic is only open to pregnant women and people ages 6 months to 24 years old. People age 21 to 24 years old should bring identification to prove their age.

Children who are brought to the clinic by someone other than their parent or legal guardian must have signed permission statements from the parent or guardian allowing the children to be vaccinated.

Vaccines will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Both FluMist and injectable vaccine will be available.

Anyone planning to attend the clinic may obtain a registration form in advance by visiting www.waynehealthdept.org.
