69th Habitat House dedicated in Huntington

November 06, 2009 @ 11:30 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 69th home Friday morning at 134 Olive Street.

The home was completed with the help of 13 area financial institutions, which contributed volunteer hours and financial resources to the project. Throughout the process, it was affectionately known as the Bankers' and Brokers' Build, said Teddy Kluemper III, director of development and communications.

This the second home in the past four years that area banks and brokerage firms have contributed both financial and volunteer support to help construct a Habitat house. Participants in this year's build included BB&T, City National Bank, Fifth Third Bank, First Sentry Bank, First State Bank, Guaranty Bank and Trust, Hilliard Lyons, Huntington Federal Savings Bank, Huntington National Bank, Merrill Lynch, Ohio Valley Bank, People's Bank and United Bank.

"The continued commitment of these financial institutions to this community is simply amazing," Kluemper said. "They truly believe in building stronger communities and improving neighborhoods, and I cannot think of a better example than helping build this house."
