MU broadcast major crowned Miss W.Va.
MORGANTOWN -- A Marshall University broadcast journalism major was crowned Miss West Virginia America during the state pageant Wednesday night at the Morgantown Event Center.
Miranda Harrison, a native of Richmond, Va., who currently resides in Huntington, competed as Miss Southern West Virginia at the pageant.
She will move on to the Miss America 2014 competition in September in Atlantic City, N.J., where her platform will be "Never Say Never -- Support for Children and Families Coping with Childhood Cancer."
Emily Lopez also was crowned West Virginia's Most Outstanding Teen during the pageant. She competed as Harrison County's Most Outstanding Teen.
Lopez will compete in the national pageant in Orlando, Fla., in August.
