OUS begins orientation sessions, registration for incoming freshmen
IRONTON -- About 80 incoming freshmen turned out Wednesday for the first day of orientation at Ohio University-Southern, said Robert Pleasant, director of student services at the Ironton campus.
About 45 students pre-registered for the six-hour orientation, and several dozen others showed up at the first of five orientations, Pleasant said.
Brandon Julian, a 2009 Chesapeake High School graduate, was among those in the orientation. "I plan to major in middle childhood education," he said.
Shelsea Burriss, a 2009 Fairland High School graduate, also participated in the orientation. Burriss, who plans to major in psychology, wants to take as many classes as possible at the Proctorville Center of Ohio University Southern.
Other orientations to register for fall classes that start Sept. 8 are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7, Aug. 8 and Aug. 28 and from 1 to 7 p.m. July 24.
The registration for summer classes currently under way was up 116 from last year, an indication that classes in the fall also could be up, he said. Tuition remains the same for the third straight year, he said.
