Campaign offers digital television transition assistance
HUNTINGTON -- Help exists for senior citizens confused about digital television.
The West Virginia State University Metro Area Agency on Aging and the West Virginia Aging and Disability Resource Centers are participating in a nationwide campaign to educate and assist vulnerable older adults to successfully transition to digital TV.
Consumers who have an analog-only TV (with a rooftop antenna or rabbit ears on the TV), and do not subscribe to cable or satellite service will need to purchase an analog-to-digital converter box to continue to watch free, over-the-air programming. On June 12, all full-power television stations began broadcasting in digital only.
The campaign helps to provide education and assistance to seniors, including helping them apply for converter box coupons and install and use converter boxes.
Anyone in need may call 304-720-6863 or 866-981-2372 for assistance.
