Church welcomes new children's pastor

July 04, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

SCOTT DEPOT -- Pastor Wendy Watts of Morgantown, W.Va., will begin serving as the children's pastor at the Teays Valley Church of God in Scott Depot next week.

Watts earned a bachelors degree in church ministry from Warner Southern College and a masters of divinity from the Anderson School of Theology. She has served as a children's ministry intern in Alabama, Florida, and Indiana.

Watts is an animal lover and scrapbooker, an avid movie goer and video gamer, and she loves the outdoors, according to a press release from the Teays Valley Church of God.

"I am so excited about ministering at Teays Valley Church of God because of the potential to build up and support families and children all across the Valley," Watts said in the press release. "I am eager to begin building relationships with the children in the area, and I pray that I can be a trusted friend to the children and families of Teays Valley."

Watts will also oversee the church's After School Program.

"Wendy's education, experience and passion for children will allow her to bring a cohesiveness and comprehensive approach to our children's ministry," the Rev. Dr. Melissa Pratt, the church's pastor, said in the press release.

For more information on the after-school program or to welcome Pastor Watts to the Valley, call 304-757-9222 or stop by the church at 4430 Teays Valley Road in Scott Depot.
