Hurricane student to represent community at national conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Shelby Turley, who just finished the fifth grade at Lakeside Elementary in Hurricane, has been nominated and accepted to represent her school and community as a member of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., from July 11-16.
The Congressional Youth Leadership Council nominates exceptional students from around the country to attend an experiential educational program, according to a press release. This will be a powerful experience enabling her to interact with many prominent men and women who most of us only read about in the news.
She is the daughter of David Turley from Eleanor and Lesa Smith of Hurricane.
