Convicted felon faces firearms charge
HUNTINGTON -- A convicted felon is facing new charges in Huntington.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has filed a criminal complaint against Daniel K. Leggette charging him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The charge stems from a search warrant executed more than a year ago.
The Huntington Police Department recovered a loaded, Hi-Point, model C-9, 9 mm pistol from the trunk of a vehicle registered in Leggette's name. The item was found May 14, 2008.
Leggette admitted that the firearm belonged to him, the complaint states. The ATF determined the firearm was not manufactured in West Virginia.
Leggette was convicted of possessing cocaine with an intent to deliver in February 1996. The conviction was recorded in Detroit, according to the complaint.
The ATF and Huntington Police Department participated in the investigation.
