Webb selected as 2010 Virginia Teacher of the Year
HUNTINGTON -- Catherine S. Webb, a graduate of Marshall University with both bachelor's and master's degrees in speech language pathology, was recently named the 2010 Virginia Teacher of the Year.
She will be the commonwealth's nominee in the Council of Chief State School Officers' National Teacher of the Year program. She received a $5,000 award and a ring from the Apple Federal Credit Union Education Foundation, $2,000 from a Richmond, Va., law firm and other personal classroom prizes.
Webb, who has taught in Giles County Public Schools for 24 years, is a speech language pathologist and special education teacher at Narrows Elementary School in Giles County, Virginia. She also has a certificate of graduate studies in autism from Regent University.
Webb is also the Region 7 Teacher of the Year.
