Students compete in academic games
HUNTINGTON -- Nearly 200 students from Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne Counties went head-to-head in categories such as world events, equations, propaganda and presidents at the Academic Games Tournament at the Big Sandy Conference Center Thursday.
The tournament is sponsored by Regional Education Services Agencies II, one of eight established by the West Virginia Board of Education in 1972. RESA II was designed to provide leadership in developing cooperative regional programs which provide cost-effective educational opportunities for schools in their service area. The education games have taken place for 15 years.
The tournament winners will advance to the national academic games tournament in Cincinnati April 23-25.
