March 09, 2010 @ 11:25 PM

HUNTINGTON -- The Greater Huntington Unit of Church Women United celebrated World Day of Prayer at First Presbyterian Church in Huntington on March 5.

People from 16 area churches and eight denominations attended. President Delores Johnson introduced the program, "Let Everything That Has Breath Praise God". Women of Cameroon served as writers for this year's service. Information was shared about the country through music, litany, Bible study, and a presentation to help participants discover "Africa in Miniature."

Participants also included Jamie Baker, Kay Pancake, Carolyn Thomas, Margaret VanZandt, Jessie McClain, Donna Glover, Loretta Hagler, Elinore Taylor, Choon Kim, Linda Hollister and Martha Casey. Harriet Tucker and Carolyn Becker provided music.

The offering taken will be used to help women and children who are victims of human suffering through trafficking, exploitation and violence. Toothbrushes for health care kits were collected for West Virginia families.
