Pathways to host workshops focused on hearing loss
ASHLAND -- Pathways Inc., a nonprofit community behavioral health center, will host two workshops, Deafness 101 and Deafness 102, Wednesday, March 24, at the Morehead Inspiration Center, 1111 U.S. 60 West in Morehead, Ky., from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., respectively.
The Deafness 101 workshop will help professionals explore behaviors and attitudes that may create barriers to providing effective services for the deaf and hearing impaired. Deafness 102 will focus on unseen barriers to individuals with hearing loss and help participants develop a tool kit of best practices and effective strategies in individual, family and group settings.
Courses will be taught by Michelle Niehaus, statewide coordinator for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services with the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.
For a brochure or to register for a workshop, call 606-329-8588, ext. 4330, or by e-mail at Misty.Walter@pathways-ky.org.
