The University of Texas at San Antonio’s football team is making its first visit to Huntington this weekend. Here are some fast facts about USTA:
Founded: 1969 as part of the University of Texas system. The university has a suburban main campus and two campuses in downtown San Antonio, which has been one of the fastest growing cities in the country in recent years with a population of 1.3 million.
Enrollment: 30,000, including 44 percent from San Antonio’s home county, Bexar, and 48 percent from other Texas counties. On-campus housing for 3,600.
Academics: 140 degree programs, including colleges of architecture, business, education, engineering, fine arts, public policy, sciences and honors college.
Research: Estimated $79 million in total expenditures with emphasis on energy and environment, health, social development, security and sustainability.
