Kentucky police charge man with murder of 2-month-old infant
ASHLAND -- Kentucky State Police in Ashland arrested a Stanton, Ky., resident Sunday after investigating the death of a 2-month-old infant, according to a release.
On Saturday, May 4, the Boyd County Sheriff's Department responded to the 100 block of Caroline Drive in Westwood, Ky., after receiving a report of an unresponsive 2-month-old female infant. Boyd County EMS also responded and transported the infant to King's Daughters Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:34 a.m.
On Sunday, May 5, an autopsy was conducted at the Kentucky State Medical Examiners Office, and it was determined the infant's death was a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma.
The mother's boyfriend, Brett R. Thompson, 18, of Stanton, Ky., was arrested and charged with murder. He remains in the Boyd County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation by KSP Det. Ben Cramer.
