Volunteers battle two Lawrence County fires
CHESAPEAKE, Ohio -- No injuries were reported as volunteers fought two fires in eastern Lawrence County.
The incidents happened late Tuesday northeast of Chesapeake and early Wednesday in Burlington, Ohio, according to Lawrence County 911 and information provided by area fire departments.
Dispatchers received the first call at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the 15900 block of Ohio 243 in Union Township. The Chesapeake-Union Township Volunteer Fire Department received assistance from volunteer firefighters in Proctorville, Ohio.
The second call came in at 1:20 a.m. along Justice Road in Burlington, prompting the Chesapeake crews to assist its counterparts from the Fayette Township Volunteer Fire Department. That house fire was extinguished by 2:35 a.m., according to dispatchers.
The Chesapeake volunteers then returned to a rekindled fire at the Ohio 243 address after 4 a.m., completing a busy night.
