Ebenezer Medical Outreach sells fresh fruits, vegetables

HUNTINGTON -- Locally grown apples and sweet potatoes, cabbages, cucumbers and cauliflower from South Carolina and fresh citrus fruit from California were among the items being offered for sale Saturday at Jamie's Kitchen in downtown Huntington.
"We have a broker, and we buy a few cases off their orders," said Andrea Leffingwell, director of development at Ebenezer Medical Outreach in Huntington. "This was picked yesterday and put on a truck and we picked it up early this morning."
The fresh fruit and vegetables are being offered at the outreach center on Fridays and will be offered at Jamie's Kitchen in downtown Huntington starting Dec. 1.
"This is all part of a healthy lifestyle, healthy life program," she said. "We want the whole Tri-State to eat better."
