CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Monongalia County again posted the state’s lowest unemployment rate as the north-central West Virginia county ended April with a jobless rate of 3.3 percent.
On the other side of the spectrum, Workforce West Virginia reported Friday that Pocahontas County’s 11.9 percent unemployment rate was the state’s highest.
Ritchie, Tyler, Mason, Wetzel, McDowell, Clay, Roane and Calhoun also reported unemployment rates above the state’s overall 5.2 percent rate. They ranged from 7.3 percent in Ritchie to 8.1 percent in Calhoun.
Eight counties had unemployment rates lower than the state’s rate. Upshur, Gilmer, Cabell, Kanawha, Marion, Preston and Putnam counties reported jobless rates ranging from 3.9 percent to 4.6 percent.
