Luke Simon Benefit set for May 18
HUNTINGTON -- The 12th annual Luke Simon Benefit Ride will take place Saturday, May 18, starting at Charlie's Harley-Davidson.
Sign-in for the event will begin at 10 a.m., and the last rider will be out at noon.
The event began in 2002 to raise money for 9-year-old Luke Simon's family. Simon had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and he died later that year. Since then, organizers of the event have dedicated it to Simon's memory and donated the proceeds to local families with children who are being treated for major medical problems.
The cost of the ride is $10 for singles and $15 for pairs. There will be door prizes and raffles throughout the day.
For more information, visit "The Luke Simon Memorial Ride" Facebook page or www.freewebs.com/lukesimonbenefitride.
Those who wish to make a donation may do so by making checks payable to "Luke Simon Benefit Ride" and mailing them to 950 Norway Ave., Huntington, WV 25705.
