Hearing health seminar planned for May 30

May. 20, 2013 @ 12:15 AM

BARBOURSVILLE -- A hearing health seminar detailing cochlear and bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) implants will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Hampton Inn, 1 Cracker Barrel Drive, Barboursville.

A cochlear implant is a device that is surgically placed in the inner ear by a neurologist. It is designed for people who have a moderate to profound hearing loss and whose hearing aids are not enough. The second device, a BAHA, also has a surgically implanted portion. It is meant for people with one deaf ear and one normal hearing ear or people who have a conductive or mixed hearing loss.

Both are outpatient procedures and are covered by Medicare and most private insurances.

The hearing health seminar is free, and light refreshments will be provided.

To register, call 877-432-7844 or visit www.hearinghealthseminar.com.
