Police blotter: Man steals new guitar valued at $1,200
Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:
Mack and Dave's on the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue reported to officers Wednesday that a man entered the store and walked out with a new acoustic guitar.
The guitar was a rosewood colored six-string Martin DR and it was valued at approximately $1,200.
An employee of the store said the suspect had visited the store in the past. The man exited the southeast door and got into a vehicle and fled west on 3rd Avenue.
A security tape was received and turned over to detectives.
DUI: Ricky Edward Hager, 39, of the 100 block of Baer Street was arrested Thursday for two felony charges related to DUI.
The arrest came after a man drove through a red light at U.S. 60 and the Wickline Bridge. The driver did not pass field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of .308, according to field tests performed by the officer.
Hager was charged with a third offense DUI and a third offense of driving with a suspended or revoked license in relation to DUI. He was also charged with obstruction for providing officers with a false name.
EMBEZZLEMENT: Norge Cleaning Village on the 2500 block of Washington Boulevard reported that an employee had caused the company a loss of nearly $5,500.
The employer told officers the employee had taken copper piping, cash and various clothing from a customer. The employee would also keep cash given by the customers when they came to pick up their dry cleaning.
He was also accused of breaking into the several of the washing machines and taking change from them.
ROBBERY: Eddie Lulian McCoy, 41, was arrested Thursday on an active felony warrant of first degree robbery.
He was arrested at about 10:44 a.m. at his residence on the 1600 block of Charleston Avenue.
BURGLARY/BATTERY: A man on the 600 block of 14th Street said he was at his home when two males met him at the door and beat him for a prior debt.
The victim said the a confrontation began over drug debt and the victim traveled in a vehicle to Charleston Avenue. The victim was encouraged to rob someone to get money, but instead fled on foot.
The victim said he had filed a prior police report in Putnam County on the same two males for a robbery of $500. The victim said he still owes the males $230.
Reports from the Western Regional Jail listed the following felony bookings:
Joseph Scott Cooper, 33, was incarcerated at 1:45 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged him with felony operating/attempting to operate a drug lab. He was detained without bond pending arraignment.
Zachary Jose Merritt, 25, was incarcerated at 10:34 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with two counts felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His bond was $150,000.
Bret Allen Pelfrey, 36, was incarcerated at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. He was detained without bond.
Edward Lucian McCoy, 41, was incarcerated at 12:20 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with a felony warrant for failing to appear in court. His bond was $50,000.
