Rape Crisis Center seeks volunteers
HUNTINGTON -- CONTACT Rape Crisis Center will host volunteer training sessions this month.
The center offers services to victims of sexual abuse, as well as their families, and has been operating for more than 30 years. It seeks volunteers to serve in the following capacities:
- Volunteer victim advocates, who take calls from the 24-hour hotline and provide direct services to victims at local emergency rooms.
- Office volunteers, who assist staff with basic office needs, helping with fundraisers, mailings and other tasks.
Training sessions are from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29. They will be at Trinity Episcopal Church, 520 11th St.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call Holly Irvin, a victim advocate for CONTACT, at 304-523-3447, and register. For more information, go to www.contacthuntington.com.
